Namaste Holistic Health

Today on Mama Finds we feature Koko Lieppman-Collado, owner of Namaste Holistic Health. Koko is a Certified Holistic Nutritionist, and Functional Medicine Coach. Koko is so great to work with because she combines professional knowledge with personal healing (and a great sense of humor!) to create an approach that works uniquely for you. Since we are all different and have unique nutritional needs, she first gains a thorough understanding of you (your story, personal and family health history, lab evaluations, assessment of food and exercise patterns, self-care strategies etc.), and works to help you achieve your personal health goals. Let’s learn more about Koko…

“I started Namaste Holistic Health after experiencing years of chronic health issues, fatigue, migraines, and bouncing from doctor to doctor. l was sick, confused, and frustrated that no one could heal me, so I became my own health advocate and started to use food as medicine. I leaned how to transform my life through detoxing with healing foods, natural supplements, and cooking my way towards better health. As my health improved, I knew I wanted to be the support for others that I wish I had when I was going through my own healing journey. I love teaching others how to take control of their own health with balanced meal planning, healing foods, natural supplements, and positive lifestyle choices! After pursuing my masters in Health Communication, I went on to become a Certified Holistic Nutritionist and Functional Health Practitioner.” -Koko Lieppman-Collado, Owner of Namaste Holistic Health

“Every day, I get to help my clients create positive health and lifestyle changes that focus on healing food and a holistic approach to life. Whether they struggle with an autoimmune disease, digestive imbalance, overeating, or cancer recovery, I listen to their full health story, personal and family health history, review labs, food and exercise patterns, and self-care strategies, and we develop a direct plan of action together. I believe when we choose to make mindful, nourishing choices in our daily meals, we all harness our innate healing potential and can take ownership of our health. I offer nutritional counseling, seasonal cleanses/detoxes, in-home support, kitchen makeovers, farmers market tours, and workshops.” -Koko Lieppman-Collado, Owner of Namaste Holistic Health

“I’m always finding ways to sneak superfoods into my client’s and my family’s lives, so we start off the day with a cacao, barley grass juice, avocado and maca (hormone balance & energy booster) smoothie, which really just tastes like a delicious chocolate milkshake. Barley grass juice power removes toxins and heavy metals out of our bodies, assists in circulation, and helps alkalize our bodies. For lunch, I love a superfood mock tuna (curried sunflower seed pate) served over a big chopped salad (kale, carrots, celery, purple cabbage, cucumber, avocado, and lots of cilantro) with a creamy tahini dressing. For dinner, I love a broccoli detox soup with nori wraps packed with veggies and a ginger & lemon mustard dressing. There is no deprivation, no yo-yo dieting, no fad diets when you work with me…just plenty of REAL FOOD!” -Koko Lieppman-Collado, Owner of Namaste Holistic Health

“I am a stay at home mom of two, Nicole (19)  and Joey (16), and about a year ago decided it was time for me to busy myself with something other than laundry and reality tv. I searched the web for work at home jobs for moms and stumbled upon viaOneHope wine, a relatively new wine company. Upon reading about the company, I learned of its 8 co-founders and their mission to create a business model with a simple goal in mind: to make it easy for individuals to give back through their everyday purchases and in so doing, make social impact an integral part of your lifestyle.” -Melissa Ferber,  ONEHOPE Wine

Livin on the Veg

Today we are featuring Sheri, owner of Living on the Veg. Sheri is a Registered Dietitian who loves veggies, and was constantly on the lookout for teeny clothes adorned with healthy foods for her son. Since she never found any that she loved, she decided to make some herself!  Sheri believes that wearing veggies leads to kiddos being excited to eat them. And it seems to be working…  ever since she made her son a kale tee, he says “Kale Yeah” whenever this nutritious green is on the menu!

“The idea to start Living on the Veg tees came to me almost one year ago. I had been dreaming up ways to start working for myself while also expressing my love of nutrition and supporting my communities’ access to fresh healthy food (the city I live in is one the hungriest cities in the United States). I have always been a sucker for food puns and enjoy coming up with them so thought, why not put them on a shirt my son can wear? This inspired me to get t-shirts printed, donate $1 of each sale to the healthy food pantry I co-manage and to think about other fun and creative ways that I could teach children and their families about the importance of eating healthy food and supporting local agriculture.” -Sheri, owner of Living on the Veg

Living on the Veg stands for everything that me and my family believe in. We believe in the healing power of eating nutritious food. We believe in supporting local farmers and artisans and hope to have our own small farm one day. We believe in creativity. We believe that everyone deserves access to healthy food and we believe that by encouraging children and their families to wear vegetables, this will lead to them eating more vegetables (and I have had many customers share stories that it has worked!). This is my passion because I believe in what we do and have an incredible time doing it!” -Sheri, owner of Living on the Veg

Here are some of the top pieces in her shop:

Find Your Own Beet

Find Your Own Beet was created around her family’s love of drumming and vegetables. The hidden message is to encourage our customers to find their path (“beat”) in life as well.

Turnip the Love

Turnip the Love is one of my favorites because it is a reminder that I take to heart everyday. This world has become a scary place and we HAVE to turn up the LOVE for everyone and everything each and every day. And we should probably eat more turnips too!
