Medicine Ethereal

Today on Mama Finds we feature Brielle Martell of Medicine Ethereal. Medicine Ethereal was inspired by Brielle’s life long connection to the natural realm, and a calling to help people heal themselves. Aside from all she has learned through herbal programs, extensive self-study and experimenting, it was her own personal experiences that have shaped her business. Through overcoming her own struggles, she learned what plant allies help to heal the body and mind.

“My hope is that these medicines will bring solace to the heart, nourishment to the body, and inspiration to the spirit, and that all the love and intention that is put into this work is felt.” -Brielle of Medicine Ethereal

20170523_3102

“I have always had a passion for helping people and the natural realm, and this business allows me to pursue both of these passions, while staying home with my 3 children. I have created many herbal products for mamas because when I became a mother at 23, I went through this unraveling of self, which was painful, hard, deep and beautiful all at once. I am grateful for this experience because it helped (and continues to help) me reconstruct and let go of many beliefs that no longer served me. Yet I know the depths that mothers give to their children and how hard it can be to balance finding time to devote to themselves and self-care. I created these products for mothers to help care for themselves through rituals- of tea, tincture, flower essence, or massage- of caring and reconnecting with themselves so they can give to their families from a place of abundance and gratitude.” -Brielle of Medicine Ethereal

20170523_1968

“I am passionate about what I do because I feel that the act of mothering is very much overlooked in our society. Many of us get along without much help and support, which can be extremely draining. It all begins with the mother, and when she feels balanced, then her family will feel more balanced as well. I believe this sense of nourishment of the soul radiates out to the community, and eventually the well being of our world.” -Brielle of Medicine Ethereal

FullSizeRender(18)

“I believe this disconnection that we as a culture have towards motherhood is ultimately tied with our detached view of mother earth. This is why our resources are being depleted, and why our consumerist nature is polluting our planet at a devastatingly rapid rate. I aim to grow many of the herbs that I use in my medicines; not only does this help me feel more connected to the plants, and in turn, the medicines I make, but also helps me support a growing ecosystem in my own backyard. It’s my own small way of giving back to our Mother.”  -Brielle of Medicine Ethereal

Fruitful Fertility Tea

The number one top-selling product is Fruitful Fertility Tea. This nourishing tea helps the body and uterus prepare for pregnancy by balancing hormones, mineralizing the body, and toning the uterus. It helps to ease worries that may arise from trying to conceive by aiding in restoring a sense of calm and ease about what may come.

Mama Bliss Postpartum Tincture

The second most popular product is Mama Bliss Postpartum Tincture. The herbs combined in this tincture are a deeply healing tonic for the postpartum body. They provide emotional support for the new mama, when hormones are out of their normal ranges and sleep deprivation is at its height. It helps to tone the uterus, eases feelings of tension and overwhelm, helps prevent and lift postpartum depression, and is calming to the physical and emotional bodies. Blessed thistle and fennel seed also help to increase and maintain a bountiful milk supply, while helping to sooth digestion/colic for mama and baby.

mamabliss

It also helps to bring on rest and sleep when mama is feeling unable to relax, and soothes new mama anxieties and nervousness. Rose quartz essence is added to open the heart center to receive all the sweet and fleeting newborn love. Give this healing gift to yourself or a loved for a little extra support and love for after baby is born.

Womb Embrace Tincture

Another popular product is Womb Embrace Tincture. This extract helps ease cramping and uterine contractions. Not only is cramping a sign that blood is releasing in your body, but it also a signal from the body to slow down, reflect and go inward. This extract helps ease these pains while you release and rest during some of the most sacred moments of being a woman; moontime and postpartum.

Womb Embrace includes herbs that help relieve cramping during moontime. This extract helps the uterus relax because of its anti-spasmodic properties. It is also calming, and aids in reducing PMS symptoms and pain. It is balancing to the nervous system when needed most during a woman’s cycle. This extract can be taken up to one week before your period, and during your period, to help reduce the pain and discomfort of cramping.

wombembrace

It is also effective in relieving after pains postpartum. After the second baby and births following, women are likely to experience contractions/cramping after birth as their uterus goes back to its pre-pregnancy size and position in the body. While nursing helps the uterus shrink back down more quickly, it can also result in more intense cramping. The herbs in this extract are effective in relieving this pain and relaxing the uterus. It also helps the new mama relax and get some rest, and helps to boost milk supply. Do not take during pregnancy. Womb Embrace is safe to use while breastfeeding.

This extract also contains moonstone essence which helps ease PMS symptoms, and is energetically balancing to a woman’s body when hormones and emotions are at their peak during moontime and postpartum.

Playdate in a Box

Today on Mama Finds we feature Letitia Fox, creator of Playdate in a Box who is bringing old school play back for kids! Remember when we were little and actually played with our friends without electronics? As a mom of two children, Letitia wanted to inspire her kids to play with their friends instead of just watching tv (I’m sure you can relate!) It can be challenging to find interactive activities for children, so she created my new favorite  “go to” when friends come over: the Playdate in a Box! It encourages kids to put technology aside and use their imaginations! “My dream is to inspire children to use their own creative imagination – with a little help from my product – and make a positive difference in their adult lives,” Fox said.

20170217_174658.jpg

“I was looking for  playdate activities for my son and his playmates that were fun and creative. I went out to the stores looking for something for 2 kiddos and I could not find it! So I created the Playdate in a Box. A themed costume playdate box with dress up and activities that keep the kiddos entertained for hours!” -Letitia, Playdate in a Box

Build & Imagine

Today on Mama Finds we feature Laurie Peterson, Founder & CEO of Build & Imagine. Build & Imagine is an award-winning toy company founded by a mom who wanted to encourage girls to build… but turns out, boys love her magnetic dollhouses too! My son Carson absolutely loves his Fairytale theater set! It let’s him act out his favorite fairy tales or even make up his own! With tons of magnetic mix & match backdrops, costumes and props, he can entertain himself for hours creating his own adventures!

20171017_170445

Let’s learn more about Laurie and what inspired her to start her company…

“Building toys have been one of the hottest toy categories, and I just wasn’t seeing a lot out there that is really appealing to girls. Those that tried were often doing so by taking their existing sets and turning them pink. I call it “Pink Think”. What I did is combine several things girls have historically loved. Build & Imagine StoryWalls are like dollhouse meets dress-up dolls meets magnetic building blocks. It’s not just building a structure, it’s building a story. By combining our illustrated magnetic panels to form dollhouses (and other themed sets) kids are developing foundational STEM skills like spatial reasoning, problem solving, and design.”- Laurie Peterson, Founder & CEO of Build & Imagine.

1_headshot(1)

“I was one of the little girls who grew up wanting to be a scientist and got discouraged along the way. What we play with really does matter. Toys help to shape a child’s vision of the world, and develop important skills. By getting girls building, we’re opening them up to new possibilities.” -Laurie Peterson, Founder & CEO of Build & Imagine.

Build_Imagine_Lifestyle_1014_4star-58-800x534

“Mompreneurs have a unique advantage in identifying market opportunities in toys and other kid based products. The last four “Rising Star Toy Inventors of the Year” (including me) have all been independent female entrepreneurs. By starting our own businesses, we’re able to go after opportunities that are overlooked or dismissed by the “big boys”. This is particularly important when it comes to transforming gender segregation in toys.
Malia’s House is our best seller. I think it really resonates with people that it’s a magnetic dollhouse you get to build a new way every time you play. And it’s super fun!” -Laurie Peterson, Founder & CEO of Build & Imagine.

Nessa Foye Handmade Bunting

Today on Mama Finds we feature Nessa Foye Handmade Bunting. Nessa makes the cutest handmade fabric bunting that’s perfect for any occasion including weddings, showers, parties, nurseries, home decor & more. Aside from having tons of cute items available on her etsy store, she also does custom orders which I love! I sent her a few photos of the  nursery and she made the perfect bunting to match my son’s room! Let’s learn more about Nessa and how she started her business…

“Growing up in England bunting was everywhere, whether it be at a country fete, party or milestone event. I always thought it brought such cheer and style to a gathering, so was surprised by how tricky it was to find for my Vermont wedding years ago. I ended up sewing my own and enjoyed it so much that I started Nessa Foye – Handmade Bunting. It has also allowed me to stay at home to look after my baby girl, which has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. I’m all for stay at home entrepreneur mamas!” –Nessa Foye

Nessa at beach.jpg

“In this day and age, I think it is very easy to buy mass produced products made in the far east which you use once and then throw away. My emphasis is therefore on creating high quality handmade products, with attention to detail and which are long lasting. A lot of people buy my bunting for baby showers and because they are made of fabric, they can be used to decorate their baby’s nursery afterwards and even used at future birthday parties to add a whimsical touch! I also love working with people on custom requests and making sure they get exactly what they want, knowing that my bunting will be adding the finishing touch to their special occasion or home.” –Nessa Foye

il_570xN.1130145321_hh5o.jpeg

Gray is the THE most popular color for nurseries at the moment!! It’s also gender neutral which makes it perfect for those of you who do not know what you’re having until D Day (just like I did)  https://www.etsy.com/listing/ 520584861

Rainbows always put a smile on everyone’s face! This multicolored bunting would be perfect at a kid’s birthday party, in their playroom or bedroom. Again, it is gender neutral so can be used for both girls and boys. https://www.etsy.com/ listing/509076353

Indigo Rose

Today on Mama Finds we feature Tami Olsen, owner of Indigo Rose. Based in Hawaii, Tami creates beautiful and unique hand-dyed items for tiny humans. Her goal is to create products, whether functional or decorative, that are beautiful additions to your home!

IMG_20170107_122729467-01.jpeg

“I started my business for a couple reasons. First, as a stay at home mom of two kids and running a mini daycare out of my home I was struggling with the lack of challenging myself personally and doing something I enjoy. I have always been a creative person and have a degree in interior so it was natural for me to turn to the arts. So between that and having the desire to continue to stay at home with my children I started brainstorming, and after a lot of thought and research I turned to indigo. I decided to try it out and I was hooked! Because sewing is something that comes somewhat naturally to me I decided to try out swaddle blankets. My little boy who was about 9 months at the time loved his blankets (and still does)!” -Tami, Indigo Rose

il_570xN.1000797969_ilzs.jpg

“My kids are my real passion! I didn’t only create Indigo Rose so that I could have a creative outlet but also so I could contribute to my family financially while being in the home with them. It’s really great doing something everyday (or almost daily) that I enjoy and can provide my children with what they need. The best part is that my daughter who is almost six can see me as a working, successful, professional woman as well as being there for her whenever she needs. My husband and I are raising her to be a modern feminist and to me this is the best way. I’m also so blessed to have a husband who
doesn’t think that what I am doing is secondary to his career!” -Tami, Indigo Rose

il_570xN.1120804140_qt3e

Her blankets are so light and airy which makes them perfect for swaddling in the summer and warm climates. I LOVE  indigo items and believe it is a trend that is going to
stick around for a long time. The design of the indigo blanket is an original of Tami’s, and is one of the most requested designs. (And of course I requested this blanket for my son Boden’s nursery!!!)

Screen Shot 2017-05-04 at 11.43.27 AM

The design below is also classic! This works for bohemian, minimalist and many other nursery themes.

DSCF6501.JPG

“Another favorite product I have are the rainbow blankets and sheets. They were inspired by my very own rainbow baby, my son. I wanted to celebrate that the healing his birth and life have given me and I know that others want to celebrate their rainbow children as well.” -Tami, Indigo Rose

Love Bubby

Today we feature Jaime Windau, the owner & designer of Love Bubby. Jaime has quite an impressive fashion resume… after graduating from Fashion Institute of Technology, she has worked for big labels including Limited Brands and Banana Republic. But after many years in the industry, she decided to leave behind the corporate world and focus on developing her small business…. and so Love Bubby was born!

Love Bubby.Photo.jpeg

“I have always loved fashion and have spent the majority of my career on the creative side of retail business. When my son was born I became his personal stylist. I found myself drawn to small shops online where I found more unique designs and loved the idea of supporting women who are living out their dreams. The level of detail and customer service you receive when you shop small was also very inspiring and knew I wanted to be a part of this community. In 2016, I left corporate retail behind and built our brand marrying my passion for retail and styling my little one.” -Jaime, Love Bubby

6740_copy_1024x1024.jpg

“My passion lies in so many different aspects of this business. It’s been so interesting learning how to build a brand. Some days I find myself in the creative designs of the season while others I focus on branding and marketing and some days are just about collaborating with other small business owners. When they say you quit your 9 to 5 to work 24/7 as an entrepreneur, it is no joke! But I love it and it never feels like work.” -Jaime, Love Bubby

Little Feminist tee
“If I had to pick my favorite tee it would have to be the Little Feminist design. Since its launch it has been one of our best sellers and we have had equal response from mamas regardless of the gender of their child.” -Jaime, Love Bubby

feminist_1e2a2d6e-0663-41e3-9cd9-8cbc4e3f037b_1024x1024.jpg
I personally love that all of Love Bubby tees are made with some of the softest fabrics in the market! And little customers really love this detail too! Parents have told Jaime stories about their kids refusing to wear other shirts in the wardrobe, wanting to wear them to sleep, or making their mamas wash them multiple times a week just so they can keep wearing them! I know from first hand experience since my son Carson LOVES their tees!! He has really sensitive skin and so he likes to wear his Swagster shirt because as he says, “it’s not a itchy one!”

Jennifer Edewaard for BeautyCounter

Today on Mama Finds we feature Jennifer— a Believer, Grateful Wife, Grace-filled mama on a mission to educate on finding truth in health & beauty, sharing a lifestyle of better beauty, at the same time inspiring and encouraging others to live an intentional life because we were created with a purpose!

“As a family we walk by grace & we run on coffee, we choose progress not perfection. Most days you can find me sipping on coffee and having lots of fun with my little guy making messes, which we love. I love to write, read, and dig into the Word! I am imperfect, and I embrace that with my whole heart. I intend to live on purpose and be transformed by grace.” – Jennifer, BeautyCounter

15822802_1212348478873178_6066827383216378878_n.jpg

“Meet my WHY! — This little boy Mason, graced us with his presence 2 years ago and every time I look at him I’m reminded (and fiercely empowered) to help mommas everywhere keep their little ones safe. I know with each snuggle or kiss (okay, the hundreds of kisses) I plant on my sweet baby boy each day, I’m keeping him safe and not transferring toxic chemicals onto his skin. Mason was born at 23 weeks, 4 months early, and 5 months in the NICU. This has transformed our family and we have seen God’s love, miracle, and grace through this. It has not been an easy road but we are stronger because of it, our bond is unbreakable. There are a million things I want to do with this sweet life of mine but most of all I just want people to know: they are enough, they were created for a purpose, and that their stories and lives matter. If we were drinking coffee right now you would quickly find out that I am passionate about helping people live on purpose, with great intention, and embrace all imperfections. Taking care of our bodies inside and out is a huge movement that I am on.” -Jennifer, BeautyCounter

13590435_1031289950312366_4764662325218060863_n.jpg

“Facing ongoing infertility, and having a miracle micro-preemie baby boy, I had no choice but to pay very close attention to all products that I was purchasing for my family. I could no longer assume that because it was on a shelf in the U.S., it was safe. Just because a label said “organic” or “pure” didn’t mean it was not going to disrupt or harm our bodies. Little by little progress, progress over perfection, grace upon grace. We are on a mission and paving the path all the way to D.C to advocate for reform when it comes to the products we use everyday. We DESERVE better!” – Jennifer, BeautyCounter

Here are a few of my favorite Beauty Counter products…

Periodyc Design

Today on Mama Finds we feature Sandra, owner and designer of Periodyc Design. Her shop creates unique chemistry inspired gifts for adults, kids and babies. And like most great chemistry experiments, Periodyc Designs was started as an accident! Sandra was looking for unique gifts for her engineering friends, and began writing funny phrases using the periodic elements. She continued to design new phrases and products and Periodyc Designs was born!

20170218_164105.jpg

“I was looking for a unique baby shower gift for a dear friend; we went to engineering school together at Lafayette College. Then my colleague, a PhD student in chemistry, came into my office one day and was bragging he could write anything in periodic elements. I daylight as a manager and faculty member and the Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ. It was a eureka moment when we came up with Baby Genius and Future engineer. From there it expanded to our current mission: to create gifts and apparel that encourages the next generation of engineers and scientists.” -Sandra, Periodyc Design

il_570xN.981623080_c7a5.jpg

“STEM education is important for all our children, especially for little girls. My background is in civil engineering and I teach innovation and entrepreneurship to our freshman and senior engineering students. It bothers me that women are still a minority in these classes. When asked how many woman is enough on the Supreme Court, Ruth Bader Ginsberg answered 9; I agree. I want to see more women than men in my classes. I have a 6 month old daughter and I don’t want her to grow up thinking science and math is nerdy or uncool, or to be popular she has to be dumb. We want kids at a very young age to think science and math is cool and then go on to solve problems worth solving and change the world.”-Sandra, Periodyc Design

Future Engineer

This future engineer design looks great on the shirts for babies, toddlers and youth sizes. It sends a clear message and and promotes STEM.

Chemistry Teacher

“I love our chemistry teacher and science teacher designs because to have engaged students means we need awesome teachers that can bring science to life. I’m uplifted when these products are ordered knowing they have inspired some stem focused kiddos this school year.” -Sandra, Periodyc Design

il_570xN.934385583_6stk.jpg

Custom Orders

“One thing that I like about our etsy shop is our custom orders. We can literally write anything in elements. So at Christmas we did a design for design for a t shirt for a step dad, ‘I am Steppy’ and a coffee mug for a science teacher ‘Mrs. Dalton.’ I feel nothing says I thought of you more than a customized gift.”-Sandra, Periodyc Design

The Brave Mama Co.

Today on Mama Finds we feature Haley, creator of The Brave Mama Co. This company creates adorable fashion pieces, and her blog is so inspiring! Haley’s goal is to equip mamas to do motherhood bravely…because Brave Mamas raise Brave babies! Let’s learn more about Haley and how The Brave Mama Co company got started…

image2(9).JPG

“I love to make things. I love design and fashion. I love motherhood. I love encouraging and building up other Mamas. And out of these loves the idea for The Brave Mama Co was formed. I’ve always wanted to start my own business but it just never seemed to be the right time. Even though my youngest is only 4 months old, it just seemed like God was directing the timing and direction of this endeavor. So with much prayer and help from my amazing graphic designing mother, I decided to go for it and start this business.” -Haley, The Brave Mama Co.

image1(10).JPG

“I’m passionate about building up and encouraging other mom’s in their journey of motherhood. Not just because I love being a mom but because I know how God ordained that role is. It’s an exhausting job and often I think Mom’s feel isolated and alone. I’d love it if something I made could encourage or inspire that inner strength and confidence for a Mom to be all she’s called to be. It’s such an important job. We’re raising amazing little people to be extraordinary big people. We can’t afford to not have each others back and to not cheer each other on.” -Haley, The Brave Mama Co.

mockup-24d5cd69_1024x1024.jpg

“I’d love to see a culture shift…that instead of buying into Mom guilt and Mom judgement we would instead reach out and tell each other how awesome we are and that we’re doing a great job. I’ve been brought to tears in a grocery store by an older mom who stopped to tell me I was doing great even though I was in the middle of a less than glamorous parenting moment. My hope is that my little business can reflect that same spirit of encouragement.” -Haley, The Brave Mama Co.

Here are some of my favorite pieces in her shop:

Warrior Mama

This tee is such a great reminder that my role as a mom is to be a warrior for my kids, to fight for them, to fight for my family, to pray fiercely for them, to stand strong and be an example of faith and love for them.

image_1024x1024.jpg

Zookeeper

This “Zookeeper” tee is just awesome! We’ve all had those moments where navigating our kids in public places looks and feels a little like wrangling monkeys!! I’m a toddler mom so to me this Zookeeper shirt perfectly describes my #momlife!

“I am a stay at home mom of two, Nicole (19)  and Joey (16), and about a year ago decided it was time for me to busy myself with something other than laundry and reality tv. I searched the web for work at home jobs for moms and stumbled upon viaOneHope wine, a relatively new wine company. Upon reading about the company, I learned of its 8 co-founders and their mission to create a business model with a simple goal in mind: to make it easy for individuals to give back through their everyday purchases and in so doing, make social impact an integral part of your lifestyle.” -Melissa Ferber,  ONEHOPE Wine
