“The journey to starting my business was a long time coming.  Ever since I was a child I have suffered from severe migraine headaches.  Because of them I had to give up on gymnastics.  Gymnastics was my passion.  I loved it so much but all the tumbling became too much.  After giving up on gymnastics I tried several other activities but it seemed no matter what I did, any movement to my body, I couldn’t avoid getting that dreaded migraine.  It wasn’t until I was in college that I discovered Pilates.  Not only did Pilates not provoke a migraine but I actually enjoyed it!  After college I started working in the “Corporate World.”  It was fun and it paid my bills but I wasn’t passionate about it.  It didn’t fulfill me and I needed a change.  That’s when I switched gears and changed the direction of my profession.  I thought since Pilates helped me when I had given up all hope on ever being able to do any sort of physical activity, I’m sure there are others out there just like me, people who need to feel alive again.” –Marla G. “When starting my business, I thought about the things I looked for in a studio: An instructor who is knowledgable, a space where I feel safe and somewhere I could practice Pilates without the distractions of a busy studio.  That’s how I knew focusing on Private and Semi-Private sessions was the way to go.  I love how comfortable my clients feel knowing that for that hour of their session my attention is solely on them and the studio is theres, completely free of distractions.” -Marla G. “My job is more rewarding than I could have ever imagined.  I am helping people feel their very best.  Because I’m usually in a one-to-one setting, my clients and I create trust, respect and a bond that goes beyond just getting a workout.  I am there to assist and educate and in addition to that I get to witness milestones, goals being reached and confidence being built.  It is the passion from my clients that fuels me.  They give me the motivation to keep going and be the best instructor I can be, for them!  My clients make the commitment and take time out of their busy lives to meet with me, so I want to make sure they are getting the best Pilates services out there.  My clients give me that drive to keep learning and continue my Pilates education so that I can continue offering them more as they keep growing and learning.  We keep the passion and knowledge growing in my studio!” –Marla G. Her clients come to her with so many different goals, requests and reasons for taking up Pilates but here are the top three:

Prenatal Pilates

“I get a lot of first-time moms who are embracing their changing bodies and want to make sure they’re able to handle all the changes throughout the nine months of growth.  Every session is customized to my client’s specific needs.  There are no pregnancies that are alike, same goes with my prenatal sessions.  I cannot stick to a certain routine because every body is different and has different needs.  That’s what is so great about Pilates, you can do so much and if there’s something that’s too challenging, chances are I have a modification to help you grow into a certain movement.  My clients don’t feel limited because they are pregnant, in fact, they often times feel empowered because they are able to do these moves while pregnant!” -Marla G. Rehabilitative Pilates

Whether you are recovering from knee surgery or back pain, Pilates helps aid in the recovery time to get clients feeling back to normal.  Pilates is gentle enough that it can be done in conjunction with or post physical therapy.  In fact, many physical therapists recommend clients start with Pilates before going into any other physical activity.  With Pilates you get the ease and gentleness but also feel how challenging it can be without putting too much pressure on one’s joints.  Private sessions are also perfect for rehabilitative clients because we focus on not causing any further damage to the injury.  Pilates is not an immediate fix to an injury, it takes hard work and dedication but after just one session clients can see and understand how helpful Pilates can be to recovery.

Bridal Pilates

“Bridal clients are fun and incredibly motivated!  They usually start about a year before they say “I do” to get into the best shape of their lives.  With Bridal clients, we usually have some very specific goals and we conquer those goals in every session – whether focusing on specific body parts or the body as a whole.  It’s fun to see how the body changes over time.  Not only do my clients get the muscle tone they’re looking for but they gain flexibility and learn how to stand taller and look leaner.  Pilates is a whole package and they take that with them as they walk down the aisle!  Funny thing is, sometimes my Bridal clients also wind up as my Prenatal clients!” -Marla G.
